Lifting your own lashes from the root, without gluing on a single extra hair. Here is how the appointment goes, how it differs from lamination and silk extensions, how long it holds, what it costs and when there is nothing to lift.
A silicone shield is placed on the eyelid — a roller whose size decides how pronounced the curl will be. The lashes are laid over it with adhesive, one by one, so they sit separated and pointing the same way. This is the longest part of the appointment and it decides whether the result is even or a few hairs stick out on their own.
Then three solutions go on in order: the first breaks the bonds in the hair so it can take a new shape, the second sets those bonds in the new position, the third conditions. Each stays on for a few minutes, exactly as specified — leaving it longer does not give more curl, it gives dry, brittle hair. The appointment runs 45 to 60 minutes, the eyes stay closed throughout and it does not hurt.

Your own lashes are curled from the root, so the eye looks more open without a single added hair. No infills every two weeks and no weight on the lid — but it adds no length, only direction.
The same procedure as a lash lift with a keratin step at the end, leaving the hair looking fuller and glossier. Some salons treat it as a separate service with its own price, others as the last step of a lift — worth asking before the appointment, not after.
One synthetic lash is attached to each natural one. It gives the length a lift cannot, but needs an infill every two to three weeks and more careful washing.
A fan of two to five very fine hairs goes onto each natural lash. Denser than classic extensions, a longer appointment — up to three hours — and it depends most on how strong your own lashes are to carry it.
A lift and extensions are not done at the same time. The lifting solution acts on the natural hair, and under extensions that hair is out of reach — the extensions come off first, then the lashes rest.
Six to eight weeks, and that is a matter of growth rather than upkeep. A lash lives out its cycle and falls out carrying its curl with it; a new, straight one grows in its place. So the result does not disappear at once, it thins out — usually first noticed as a few hairs in the corner sitting differently.
It is repeated after six weeks at the earliest. Sooner than that and the solution lands on hair that has not recovered from the last time, which it pays for by breaking — in the salon this shows as lashes that stop holding the curl as well as they did the first time.
The treatment works with what is there: if the lashes are very short, the shield has nothing to hold and the result barely shows. The same goes for sparse lashes weakened by long wear of extensions — they need a month off first. The real contraindication is an eye infection, a stye or recent surgery, and there is no negotiating around it.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: most salons will not do it, not because of proven harm but because hormonal changes alter how the hair responds — the result tends to come out uneven.

Tinting is almost always charged separately, and on fair lashes half the effect is missing without it — they are curled but barely visible. If the price list only says „lash lift”, that is the question to ask when booking.
For the first 24 hours the lashes are kept dry and untouched. The bonds are still setting in their new position, so water, steam and rubbing can pull them back down — and that is not repaired, it waits for the next treatment. No sauna, pool or hot shower to the face that day.
After that everything is allowed, mascara included. The only lasting exception is oil-based removers and eye creams, which loosen the curl before its time. A lash comb each morning keeps them separated and makes the result look tidy for longer.
